Ask & Talk
Ask & Talk
Practise asking questions and speaking English with this printable conversation board game.
The board includes 30 different topics, such as family, work, hobbies, travel, health, emotions and everyday life. Players move around the board, roll the dice and use one of six question words to make a question about the topic they land on.
The game encourages learners to think of their own questions, listen to each other and practise answering in English. Questions can be short and simple or more detailed, depending on the learners' language level.
With a wide range of topics, the game can be used for speaking practice, vocabulary development and group conversations.
What will you practise?
Practise asking and answering questions in English using who, what, where, when, how and why. Learners talk about everyday topics, expand their vocabulary and practise forming sentences. They also develop their listening skills by responding to questions and sharing their own experiences and ideas.

How does it work?
Roll the dice and move your game piece along the board. Each square has a different conversation topic.
Roll the dice again to choose a question word:
1 – Who?
2 – What?
3 – Where?
4 – When?
5 – How?
6 – Why?
Make a question about the topic using your question word. Another player answers the question.
For example, if you land on Travel and roll Where?, you could ask: "Where would you like to travel?"
The questions can be adapted to different English levels. Beginners can make simple questions, while more advanced learners can ask and answer longer or more detailed questions.
Suitable for classroom activities, small groups and individual speaking practice.
